It *is* possible, though, I have already worked on several conversion projects with good results. You can recreate the layout of your HTML website inside Wordpress but if you never used it before then you might be in for some long hours of learning and testing. If your site will have low traffic then you are usually fine, but if your site starts to pick up more traffic then you may need to switch hosts.
However, the site performance will largely be dependent on the quality of the service provided by your web hosting. I suppose you signed up for some web hosting in order to upload these HTML files, so this web hosting could also be used to install Wordpress and create your new website. It is a nice CMS, very easy to use and with lots of resources and tutorials available. You should really consider using Wordpress. You need to either spend time (which is not free hehe) or pay someone to do it. Unfortunately there is no way to do this for free.
